Miami managed to take down the shorthanded Clippers to win their second straight and fourth in the last five games. The Heat will look for their fifth win in the last six and their fourth straight over the Hawks here. Miami led by seven after the opening quarter and put the game away over the final six minutes to get the win. The Heat prevailed despite shooting 37.8 percent from the floor, 12 of 35 from three point range and losing the rebounding battle 46-37. Josh Richardson had a career high 28 points to lead the Heat in the win.
Atlanta Hawks Try to Stop Latest Slide
While Miami has gotten back on track, the Hawks continue to be grounded as they dropped their fourth straight and sixth in the last seven games with a two point loss in Memphis. The Hawks hope that a return home can help them get a win. Atlanta led by seven at the half only to see the Grizzlies rally to get the win. The Hawks shot 44.2 percent from the field, including 12 of 31 from three point range, lost the rebounding battle 43-35 and turned the ball over 17 times to negate forcing 21 turnovers. Kent Bazemore had 19 points to lead Atlanta in the loss.
Atlanta is scuffling as they’ve been dismal all season long. Losing on the road to the Grizzlies is the latest in a series of disappointing chapters for the Hawks this season. Miami has won four of their last five games but will be minus James Johnson for the next seven to 10 days as he has bursitis in his ankle. Still, the Heat has momentum and quality depth on their side: while Collins just returned for the Hawks, he’s not enough to push them to the win: look for Miami to get the win here.
